Product Designer

Job Description

A high-impact opportunity has arisen for a Product Designer to join a fast-growing, mission-driven start-up operating at the intersection of data intelligence and government. This is a rare chance to step in as the first dedicated design hire, shaping both the product experience and the design function from the ground up.

Salary: Up to $220k

Based: Arlington, VA (Hybrid 3 days in office)

The Opportunity

The team is building a sophisticated platform that brings clarity to complex, data-heavy environments. With strong growth plans and a clear mission, they are seeking a designer who thrives on ownership, embraces ambiguity, and wants their work to directly influence product direction and real-world outcomes.

You’ll play a pivotal role in defining how the product looks, feels, and evolves—while laying the foundations for future design practices and team growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design lifecycle, from user research through to high-fidelity execution and developer hand-off
  • Establish and embed design vision, processes, and best practices as the first design hire
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and customers to translate complex requirements into intuitive experiences
  • Design for data-heavy, enterprise-grade software with a strong focus on usability and clarity
  • Build and scale a cohesive design system to support product growth
  • Engage directly with users and clients to continuously refine and improve the product

What They’re Looking For

  • 3+ years’ experience designing enterprise-level or B2B SaaS products
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design ownership on shipped products
  • Experience working on data-rich platforms (e.g. financial, scientific, or similar domains)
  • Proven ability to establish design systems or processes from scratch, ideally in early-stage environments
  • Background in high-quality, design-forward organisations (startup or established)
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, with a bias towards action and iteration
  • Ambition to grow into a leadership role over time

Additional Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen and eligible for security clearance
  • Must be willing to work in a hybrid model based in Arlington, VA

Why Apply?

  • Foundational role with significant ownership and influence on product and strategy
  • Opportunity to build and shape the design function from day one
  • High-growth environment with strong emphasis on accountability and impact
  • Collaborative, low-ego culture that values transparency and high performance
  • Exposure to meaningful, mission-driven work with real-world implications

If you are an experienced Product Designer looking to step into a role with genuine ownership, influence, and long-term growth potential, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

Apply now to be part of a team tackling complex challenges with speed, purpose, and ambition!
